Edward VI, First Period, Halfgroat, Canterbury, no m.m., reads EDWARD and CIVITAS CANTOR, 1.24gm (RCB 28; N. 1901; S. 2459). Only mediocre but the legends clear, very rare (£90-120)

From different dies to the Chown specimen (Glendining 4 Apr. 1979, lot 134, £360). Most coins of this type from Canterbury render the king’s name as EDOARD and the mint name as CANTON
