MAYORS' BADGE OF OFFICE FOR THE CITY OF WESTMINSTER, 9 carat gold and enamels, hallmarked Birmingham 1929, inscribed on the reverse (Councillor Major Vivian B. Rogers D.S.O., M.C., Mayor of the City of Westminster 1928-29, presented by Councillor Jacques Abady.) contained in its fitted presentation case, the lid gold embossed with the arms of the City, two minor enamel chips, otherwise extremely fine and rare

Major Vivian Barry Rogers, C.B.E., D.S.O., M.C., served in the Great War with the Northumberland Fusiliers; Staff Captain 108th Infantry Brigade and D.A.Q.M.G. 36th Ulster Division. Mayor of Westminster 1928-29; Alderman of Westminster City Council 1941- 49; Commandant-in-Chief, Metropolitan Special Constabulary, New Scotland Yard, 1943-49. Formerly Senior Partner in the firm of Rogers, Chapman & Thomas, chartered surveyors, chartered auctioneers and estate agents. Major Rogers died on 3 October 1965.
