Dennis Arthur Field was born at Coventry, Warwickshire in March 1921. Commissioned Pilot Officer in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve on 11 June 1943, he was promoted Flying Officer on 11 December 1943, and served during the Second World War as a Navigator with 105 Squadron (Mosquitos). On the night of 11-12 December 1944 Field, along with his pilot, James Gladstone Brass, Royal Canadian Air Force, took off from R.A.F. Borne at 17:33 in Mosquito MM152 on a night mission to Bielefeld. On their return they flew into high ground at Longhole Stud near Newmarket and crashed at 22:23. Both Brass and Field were killed. He is buried in Coventry (London Road) Cemetery. His medals were sent to his widow, Gwyneth Eileen Field.
