Three: Acting Sergeant W. Crerand, Scottish Rifles (Cameronians)

William Crerand was born in 1893 and attested into the Scottish Rifles, at Glasgow, on 26 October 1914, for service during the Great War. He served with the 1/7th Battalion at Gallipoli from 16 June 1915; slightly wounded on 10 November 1915, he saw further service in Egypt receiving a gun shot wound to his right leg on 30 August 1917. He landed in France on 17 April 1918 and saw further service on the Western Front, where he was twice slightly gassed; on 25 May 1918 and 28 August 1918. Transferring into the 3rd Battalion at Home on 14 October 1918, he was advanced Acting Sergeant on 10 February 1919 before being disembodied on 20 March 1919.

Sold with original certificate of disembodiment, original casualty tag for his Gun Shot Wound in 1917, original award certificate for his 1914-15 Star with original torn named envelope, copied Medal Index Card, copied medal roll extracts and six polished Great War Scottish Rifles regimental buttons with maker’s marks for Firmin, London.
