Susan Margaret Corke was born in Hastings on 6 October 1948 and was awarded the 1977 Jubilee Medal whilst serving at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich. Transferred to the British Military Hospital in Munster, Germany, she married Alexander McColm, a widower and former Staff Sergeant in the Royal Scots Regiment, on 21 October 1978.
