A. Poole served during the Boer War with the Militia Medical Staff, Royal Army Medical Corps. The roll taken at Newcastle on 26 August 1901 lists five personnel serving at No. 14 General Hospital, the recipient’s entry adding: ‘To S/S ‘Montrose’ for duty 20.4.01.’
