William Thomas Cumberlidge was born in Hastings, Warwickshire, and attested for the King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment at Blackburn. He served with the 8th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 28 December 1915, and was killed in action on 2 March 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
