The Reverend Frederick Cosgrove attested for the Royal West Surrey Regiment and served with them during the Great War (his Medal Index Card confirming ‘eligible for BWM only’). Educated at Durham University, he was ordained Deacon in 1924 , and Priest in 1925. He served during the Second World War as Honorary Chaplain to the Forces, and was subsequently Warden of Sir William Turner Hospital and almshouses, Kirkleatham, Yorkshire.
