Frank Harris attested for the 15th (King’s) Hussars on 5 March 1909 and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 16 August 1914. He was discharged on 24 August 1918 as having made a mis-statement as to age on enlistment, and was awarded a Silver War Badge, No. 439175.

Harris appears to be the only man with the rank ‘Bandsman’ listed on the 1914 Star roll for the 15th Hussars, and consequently this is presumably a Regimentally unique award. His Medal Index Card notes that his Victory Medal was re-issued on 21 February 1922.
