Denis Edwards was a Second in the 8th Holborn (Lady Peak’s Own) Group and was also a member of the Imperial Headquarters Staff. He was awarded his Cross on 28 May 1941, the citation reading:
‘For carrying out his Civil Defence duties with great gallantry and resource and a total disregard of his own safety during severe air raids on London.’
