Moses Othen was born at Farnham, Surrey, and attested for the Hampshire Regiment at Winchester. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 27 December 1914 and was killed in action at Ypres on 9 August 1916 during an enemy gas attack. He is buried in Potijze Chateau Wood Cemetery, Ypres, Belgium.
