George Horne was commissioned Ensign, by purchase, in the 12th Lancers on 19 June 1835, and was promoted Lieutenant, by purchase, on 28 August 1838, and Captain on 25 June 1852. He served in the Crimea from 17 May 1855, and relinquished his commission in 1861.
