William Thomas Biggs was born in South Mimms, Middlesex in January 1881. He joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in April 1898, and advanced to Able Seaman in April 1900. Service included in H.M.S. Barham, January 1909 - December 1910, and with Wildfire and Hibernia during the Great War. Biggs was demobilised in April 1919
