Arthur Frank Hobbs was born at Crockerton, Wiltshire, and attested for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry at New Cross. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 14 August 1914, and was killed in action in the Battle of Festubert on 16 May 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial, France.
