Dudley Morgan was born at Weston Turville, Buckinghamshire, on 18 November 1898 and attested for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. He served in ‘A’ Company of 2nd/4th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was taken Prisoner of War at St. Quentin on 21 March 1918, being held for the rest of the War at Mannheim P.O.W. Camp.
