George Vincent was born in St. Helier’s, Jersey, on 14 April 1877, and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy Second Class on 23 September 1892. He served in H.M.S. St. George from 25 October 1894 to 18 February 1898, and was advanced Able Seaman on 3 May 1897. Transferring to the Coast Guard on 17 May 1905, he was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 22 February 1910, and was finally pensioned on 30 April 1919.
