John Coad was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne ands attested for the Bedfordshire Regiment in London. He served with the 8th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 26 July 1915, and was killed in action on 14 October 1916, on which date the Battalion was in the trenches at Guedecourt. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
