Frederick Edward Marston was commissioned in the Royal Engineers and served with them in the French theatre of war from 11 June 1915. He advanced to Temporary Lieutenant the following month, and to Captain in September 1917. Marston was appointed Acting Major in November 1918, and relinquished his commission in September 1921.
