A Crimea D.C.M. awarded to Sergeant E. Boughton, Rifle Brigade, who was killed on 30 August 1855

D.C.M. recommendation dated 19 February 1855.

Edward Boughton served with the 2nd Battalion, Rifle Brigade in the Crimea and was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal together with a gratuity of £10. He was killed on 30 August 1855, and his name appears on a memorial dedicated to Sergeants of the 2nd Battalion, Rifle Brigade in Sebastopol, the relevant inscription reading, ‘E. Boughton: Killed 30 August 1855’. His effects were valued at a little over £2 and he left no will.
