1914-15 Star (676, A-Bmbr. J. Holt, R.F.A.); British War and Victory Medals (676. Cpl. J. Holt. R.A.); Territorial Efficiency Medal, G.V.R. (710062. Cpl. J. Holt. R.A.) minor dig to obverse of BWM, edge nicks, otherwise generally very fine (4) £80-£120
James Holt attested for the Royal Field Artillery (Territorial Force), and served with them during the Great War in the Egyptian theatre of War from 26 September 1914. His 1917 service number (710062) is from a block allocated to the 3rd East Lancashire Field Artillery Brigade, Royal Field Artillery (Territorial Force) of the 42nd (East Lancashire) Division. This and his date of arrival in Egypt is consistent with his membership of that Brigade, which was the first Territorial Division to serve abroad, and saw action during the Great War in Egypt, the Dardanelles, and on the Western Front. Holt was awarded his Territorial Efficiency Medal on 26 May 1927.
