Banco de Espana, specimen 500 Pesetas, 1 July 1876, zero serial numbers, the poet Lope de Vega at left, allegorical women and children at top centre and right, the reverse features a steam train in red, red specimen and blue muestra overprints, in PMG holder 64, uncirculated, previously mounted.
Pick 12s £9000-12000
A superb American Banknote Company engraving, and believed to be one of only two examples known. This is the more complete of the two as it is on printed on higher quality paper (the same as intended for issue) and has serial numbers. Not even the Bank of Spain has an example of this note.
