Thomas Ernest Martin enlisted into the 2nd West Lancashire Brigade R.F.A., 30 April 1909. Having advanced to Corporal Martin served with the unit in the French theatre of war from 30 September 1915. Attaining the rank of of B.Q.M.S., he was discharged due to wounds (entitled to Silver War Badge), 8 February 1919.
