John Edwin Henwoos, 1/16th (County of London) Battalion London Regiment (Queen’s Westminster Rifles), entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 1 November 1914. He was commissioned into the Royal West Surrey Regiment on 16 November 1915. When serving in the Egyptian theatre of war with the 9th Battalion, he died of wounds on 1 July 1916, aged 20 years. He was buried in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery. He was the son of John Henry and Florence Elizabeth Henwood, of 95 Bensham Manor Road, Thornton Heath, Surrey. His father applied for his medals on 14 February 1921. With copied m.i.c.
