M.M. London Gazette 9 May 1941:
‘For gallant and distinguished services in the Middle East.’
The original Recommendation, dated 25 February 1941, states: ‘At Derna, on Sunday 26 January 1941, Fusilier Moore, acting as Ammunition Number to his Machine Gun Section which was in action at a range of 500 yards from the enemy, made 12 journeys across open country to obtain ammunition under heavy fire from all arms. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Fusilier Moore enabled his Section to maintain fire, which eventually silenced the enemy.’
