Jestyn Mansel Thomas was born on 16 March 1911 attested for the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve on 23 August 1940, and served during the Second World War as a Radar Mechanic, serving overseas in Canada and Newfoundland from 2 June 1942 to 19 September 1943, and subsequently in North-West Europe post D-Day. He was discharged on 9 November 1945.
