Edward Francis Dean was born in 1895 and attested for the Middlesex Regiment at Wembley, Middlesex, on 27 March 1915. He served with the 13th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 2 June 1916 and was wounded by gun shot wounds to both arms on 18 August 1916, on which date the battalion was involved in the attack towards Guillemont- advancing on the right of Trônes Wood Road they were checked by cross fire, incurring heavy casualties. He was discharged on account of his wounds on 13 April 1917, after 2 years and 18 days’ service, and was awarded a Silver War Badge.

Henry Broad attested for the London Regiment on 15 November 1915 and served with the 14th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 7 March 1916. He was wounded by gun shot to the right shoulder on 6 September 1916, when the Battalion was at Leuze Wood, Somme Sector. Returning home, he was discharged on 17 June 1919, after 3 years and 216 days’ service.

Albert Frederick Prior was born in 1897 and attested for the Rifle Brigade on 11 December 1915. He served during the Great War on the Western Front from 3 January 1917, and suffered trench fever due to ‘exposure and buried alive’ on 2 May 1917, and was then gassed at Passchendaele on 27 December 1917. He subsequently transferred to the 17th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment, before being discharged on 28 September 1919.
