Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Belmont (9998 Pte. H. W. White, Cldstm: Gds:) good extremely fine

Henry William White was born in Great Dunmow, Essex, in 1874 and attested for the Coldstream Guards on 25 January 1895. He served with them in South Africa during the Boer War from 28 October to 25 December 1899, and was wounded at the battle of Belmont on 23 November 1899. British casualties at Belmont amounted to 53 killed and more than 200 wounded. He was discharged medically unfit at London on 20 February 1901, after 6 years and 27 days’ service.
