India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Burma 1889-92 (2093 Pte. W. Sloman 2d. Bn. Devon. Regt.) minor edge nicks, very fine £140-180

W. Sloman attested for the Devonshire Regiment and served with the 2nd Battalion in Burma, as part of the Irrawaddy Column under Captain (later Lieutenant-Colonel) N. J. Goodwyn. He transferred to the 1st Battalion on 10 December 1892, and subsequently to the Army Reserve. Recalled to the Colours following the outbreak of the Boer War, he served with the 2nd Battalion in South Africa during the Boer War (entitled to a Queen’s South Africa Medal with clasps Tugela Heights and Relief of Ladysmith).
