Naval General Service 1793-1840, 2 clasps, Martinique, Guadaloupe (James Kerrison.) nearly extremely fine
£1800-2200

Provenance: Baldwin, March 1939; Glendining, September 1961.

James Kerrison is confirmed on the rolls as a Private Royal Marines aboard H.M.S. Superieur for both actions.

In the period between the capture of these two islands,
Superieur and Horatio captured the French frigate Junon off the Virgin Islands, West Indies, on 10 February 1809. Whilst this successful action resulted in the eventual authorisation of clasps ‘Superieur 10 Feby 1809’ and ‘Horatio 10 Feby 1809’, only the Acting Master of Superieur, Bartholomew G. S. Day, claimed the clasp, while 13 officers and men from Horatio successfully claimed their respective clasp.
