John Henry Kemp was born on 22 November 1891 at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, son of William and Alice Elias Kemp. He attested for the King’s Royal Rifle Corps and served during the Great War with the 7th Battalion in the French theatre of war from 8 December 1915. He transferred to the Machine Gun Corps and was posted to the 212th Company. He was killed in action on 22 July 1917 and is buried in Noreuil Australian Cemetery, France.
