Three: Sergeant J. Day, 11th Hussars

Joseph Day was born at Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, in 1886, and attested for the 11th Hussars at Cambridge on 27 June 1904. He transferred to the Reserve on 27 June 1912, but was recalled to the Colours on the outbreak of the Great War on 5 August 1914. He served with “A” Squadron during the Great War on the Western Front from 15 August 1914, was promoted Corporal on 27 August 1917, and Sergeant on 19 September 1918. He transferred once more to the Army Reserve in May 1919.
