3rd City of London Rifle Volunteers Officer’s Helmet Plate 1880-1901, a very fine and rare example, the crowned silver plated star pattern back plate overlaid with plated laurel sprays, at the base in silver a scroll ‘London’ over a shield bearing the Arms of the City, within the laurels a circular strap ‘Domine Dirige Vos’ laid over a crossed sword and crossed mace all in gilt, in the centre on a ground of black velvet a fused grenade in gilt with a silver ‘3’ upon the ball, three screw post fasteners, very good condition £400-500
