The Queen’s Own Light Infantry (Tower Hamlets Militia) a Major’s 1869 Pattern Shako, the blue cloth body complete with plated fittings and silver lace, the frontal plate of 1855 pattern being a crowned star with pierced title circle ‘The Queen’s Own Light Infantry’ this with a gilt wash finish, in the centre on a domed and lined ground a crowned strung bugle horn, all red ball plume with an 1861 pattern plume holder, the plate is original to the shako, buff leather sweatband and crimson silk lining by ‘Morris & Son, Reading’, together with its correct pattern carrying tin, the shako with sundry moth holes, the crimson silk lining part perished otherwise sound overall condition (2) £400-600
