St. Olave’s Volunteers (London) Medal 1798, a circular engraved medal with single stepped border, 40mm, silver (hallmarks for London 1797) with lemon-gilt wash, the obverse featuring a crown enclosed by a garter inscribed ‘St. Olaves Volunteers’, enclosed by the legend, ‘Pro Rege et Patria’ above and a spray of laurel below, the reverse inscribed ‘Henry Strange, Captain Green commanding, May 1798’ enclosed by the inscription ‘Best Shot at Ball Practice The Light Company’, with ring suspension, good very fine £140-180
