Iwan Rhys Jenkins was born in 1928 and qualified as M.R.C.S. and L.R.C.P. in London in 1953. He did his National Service in the Royal Army Medical Corps, and was promoted Captain on 21 February 1955, transferring to the Army Emergency Reserve of Officers in 1961. Appointed to the Board of the Royal College of Surgeons, he received a Diploma as Fellow in the Faculty of Anaesthetists in 1966. He died in February 2016.
