Charles Seward was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, and attested for the King’s Own Scottish Borderers at Richmond, Surrey. He served during the Great War with the 2nd Battalion on the Western Front from 11 September 1914, and was killed in action on 18 April 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
