Four: Flight Sergeant W. B. Lewis, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who flew operationally in Liberators of No. 159 and No. 99 Squadrons over Burma in 1945

William Bryan Lewis, who was born in March 1925, enlisted in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve in October 1943. Having trained as an Air Gunner, he was embarked for India and joined No. 159 Squadron, a Liberator unit operating on the Burma front, in January 1945. Thus a dozen or so bombing sorties flown in the period leading up to June 1945, latterly with No. 99 Squadron. Lewis - who was entitled to wear the ‘Pacific’ clasp on his Burma Star - was released from the Service in August 1947.
Sold with the recipient’s original R.A.F. Flying Log Book for Navigators, Air Bombers, Air Gunners and Flight Engineers (Form 1767 type), with entries covering the period March 1944 to June 1945, water damage to opening pages; his R.A.F. Service and Release Book, and around 20 or so wartime period photographs.
