Victoria (1837-1901), Trial Crown, 1837 [1893+], by T. Pinches [after J. Bonomi] for J. Rochelle Thomas, in white metal, a reduction positive with the initial parameters of the design and lettering in relief, outline of coronetted head with no detail, witness lines leading from centre, nothing around circumference, rev. Britannia standing, holding Victory, no drapery detail, outline of shield only, no stars around circumference, edge plain, 38.40g/12h (ESC 2610, this piece; L & S –). Extremely fine and as made; believed the only known specimen from both dies in unfinished state

While several uniface strikings of unfinished obverse and reverse dies are known, the combination of both together in one coin escaped notice by Linecar and Stone
