1914-15 Star (3460 Pte. E. Pugh, Monmouth R.), very fine £50-60

Edwin Pugh enlisted in the Monmouthshire Regiment at Abergavenny and was embarked for France in the 3rd Battalion on 10 December 1915. He died of wounds less than three weeks later, on the 29th, one of 69 men from his unit who were killed or wounded by four enemy 17-inch shells. The son of Elias and Martha Pugh, of Maesmawr, Forest Coal Pit, Abergavenny, he was 22 years of age and is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery; sold with copied research.
