Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Balaklava (Fredk. Burbridge. 4th Dn. Gds.) officially impressed naming, good very fine £800-1000
Ex Needes Collection 1940.
Private Frederick Burbridge is shown in the musters as being effective from 1st October to 20th November 1854, and probably rode in the charge of the Heavy Brigade at Balaklava. He died of cholera on 20 November 1854, and is mentioned in the diary of Lieutenant-Colonel E. C. Hodge, whose entry for that date reads: ‘Read the burial service over Private Burbridge by the light of a lamp. He died of cholera at 4pm. He was a terrible old drunkard.’
