George William Brooks joined the 8th Battalion London Regiment on 28 March 1911. Entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 18 March 1915. He was wounded in action on 31 October 1915 - taking shrapnel to the right leg. He was discharged at the termination of his period of engagement on 12 April 1916. He attested for the 3/1 London Divisional Cyclist Company on 26 May 1916. Transferred to the 73rd Divisional Cyclist Company in December 1916; later with the R.G.A. Served overseas in 1918, firstly in Malta, then in India. With copied m.i.c. (2) and some service papers.
