Alfred Edward Williams was born in Stirling, Scotland. Having previously served in Leicestershire Volunteer Company, being invalided home on 7 July 1900, he attested for short service with the Imperial Yeomanry at Cardiff on 28 January 1901, aged 34 years. With the 7th (Leicestersahire) Company, 4th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry he again served in South Africa. Medal issued in 1924. With copied Yeomanry service papers and roll extracts.
