Sydney Harold Boyer Emus, who was born in August 1898, was employed as a wholesale meat salesman in London prior to entering the Royal Flying Corps for pilot training in May 1917.
Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant that August, he was embarked for Egypt in the following month and, having qualified for his “Wings”, was posted to No. 142 Squadron as a Flying Officer in March 1918. Having then flown operationally in R.E. 8s in the Palestine campaign, he was placed on the Unemployed List in February 1919; sold with copied research and photograph.
