Africa General Service 1902-56, 1 clasp, Kenya (2/Lt. C. E. Hornsby, Mx.) correction to last two letters of surname, in named card box of issue, nearly extremely fine, rare to unit £160-200

Charles Edward Hornsby was born on 12/5/1936 son of P.R. Hornsby of 22 Stormont Road, London, N6. He was educated at Highgate School from September 1948 to March 1954. He attended New College Oxford, (M.A Modern History) III Class.

Commissioned from a Cadet into the Middlesex Regiment, (National Service) London Gazette 5 February 1955; attached to the Kings African Rifles from 31 May 1955. Served in Kenya - medal rare named to the Middlesex Regiment as the regiment as a whole did not serve there. In 1962 he was articled to Cooper Bros. of London and qualified as a chartered accountant; in 1962 he lived at 79 Cornwall Gardens. In 2008 he lived at 7 Courthope Road, Wimbledon. A successful businessman who never married, died in 2010.
