Stoker Petty Officer Christopher James Barker was awarded the L.S. & G.C. when serving aboard the O-class destroyer H.M.S. Offa. He was serving aboard the destroyer H.M.S. Derwent when she was torpedoed and damaged by a Ju88 in Tripoli Harbour on 19 March 1943.
Barker died of wounds on 20 March 1943, aged 40 years, and was buried in the Malta (Capuccini) Naval Cemetery. Barker was the son of Edmund and Annie Barker, of Northallerton, Yorkshire and the husband of Annie Elizabeth Barker, of Bedale, Yorkshire.
H.M.S. Hurricane was an H-class destroyer. On 24 February 1943 she was torpedoed by the U-415 N.E. of the Azores. Being badly damaged, the following day she was scuttled. With copied research.
