Joseph Degnan was born in Derby and enlisted at Coventry. Serving in the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 25 September 1914, aged 23 years. He was buried in the Vendresse Churchyard. Private Degnan was the son of Michael Henry and Adelaide Degnan, of 50 London Road, Coventry.
