Brutus, one of Caesar’s assasins, died 42 B.C., Plated Denarius, bare head of Brutus right, Brvt Imp L Piaet (sic) Cest, reverse Eid Mar, cap of Liberty between two daggers (as Cr. 508/3, Syd. 1301, C.15). Large area of bronze core revealed on reverse, otherwise fine, of the highest rarity and historical interest (£300-400)
Plated coins are contemporary forgeries
