Ernest Wilmer was born in Burslem, Staffordshire and enlisted at Stoke-on-Trent. Serving with the 1st Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 29 May 1918, aged 26 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Soissons Memorial. He was the son of Mr W. Wilmer of 7 Furnival Street, Cobridge, Hanley and husband of Annie Wilmer of 55 Lower Mayer Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. With copied casualty details.
