J. W. Balding enlisted in June 1889; promoted to Sergeant in 1896 and Colour Sergeant in 1903. Discharged in 1910 but rejoined for the Great War. Army L.S. & G.C. awarded by A.O.270 of October 1909; M.S.M. awarded by A.O.122 of 1938. He died in November 1953.
