John Francis Eaton, who was from Wolstanton, Staffordshire, was appointed a Temporary Midshipman ‘for Victory IV for R.N. Depot Crystal Palace for preliminary training’ in November 1917. Having then attended Excellent for fire control training in early 1918, he joined the destroyer H.M.S. Minion that April and was still was serving in the same capacity when demobilised ashore in January 1919; sold with copied service record.
